Kira Dietrich

I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's in Architecture in June 2016. I am currently searching for a job in an architecture firm that specializes in housing and community development work.

My short term goals include earning my architectural license and finding a place to start a life for myself.

My career goal is to tackle the issues presented by suburbia and to create a healthier alternative. Even though I have yet fully understand the problems presented by suburbia, I believe that answers lay in micro-dwelling/tiny house tactics, pedestrian- and transit-oriented design, mixed-use, revitalization or under utilized areas, creation of strong communities, soft architecture, and increasing community ownership of public spaces.

This list is by no means completely inclusive. I look forward to what the future brings and the insights I will gain as I progress in my architectural career.

Areas I would like to further explore include passivehaus design, micro-dwellings, affordable housing, prefabricated construction techniques, urban planning, adaptive reuse, and integration of green strategies in design.
